So many companies that write software don't invest in Vista compatibility mainly because Vista world market share is less than one percent.
#Nikon viewnx i problems upgrade#
When developers upgrade adding new features to applications it becomes more difficult to code these new features and at the same time support Vista. The problem is partially with software development, the programming languages and compilers. Some developers support vista with separate programming. Vista doesn't have much support any longer. When I emailed their tech support they replied it's a known problem and that they recently created a fix which I downloaded and installed to resolved the problem. a Mapping program it turned out the problem wasn't with Vista.

The last time I ran into an issue running a program under Vista i.e.

Been running Windows since Windows 95.Īnyway do you have service pack 2 installed under Vista? You also didn't answer my question as to which version of the Nikon software you're installing - 32 or 64-bit? Yeah, been building PC's since 1998 with my latest build mid last year. However, be aware Vista is no longer supported by Microsoft, so if you choose the stick with the OS, expect to run into issues. That said, are you running Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2)? As that's what the latest version of View NX2 requires. Companies use various methods to make sure their trial versions aren't continuously used.ĭon't presume to know what I'm going to say. If you were using a trial version of Capture NX-D and that trial period ran out, you could be facing an issue where subsequent trial versions won't install. Seen that a few times with software that previously worked under an OS than stopped with the latest version. One possibility is that the latest version of ViewNX 2 may not actually be supported under Vista. That said, why your issue is the answer were looking for. No doubt you have an issue, but it's not a compatibility issue. Bottom line is there is no compatibility issue per se where ViewNX2 and the latest version of Windows is concerned. As I've shown in my screenshot it's not only installed (and I've never had an issue installing it) but it also works just fine.

If that were the case none of us would be able to install the software on "other versions" of Windows - (Windows 7, 8/8.1, 10). This problem has been reported under other versions of windows such as Windows 7, etc. So there's an issue I think with the registry and perhaps other issues preventing a Nikon from installing. And before I moved to 10, I was using it under Windows 8.1 just fine as well. Maybe, but most seem to run ViewNX 2 just fine under 10.
#Nikon viewnx i problems windows 10#
Windows 8.x and Windows 10 are pretty much use the same core engine, only using different GUIs (Windows Desktop Manager). It does ok, when I have time and extra cash I'll upgrade to a PC with more recent hardware architecture, better cpu, graphics and more memory, most likely running Windows 10.
#Nikon viewnx i problems 64 Bit#
I rarely have any problems running 32 and 64 bit application under Vista 圆4. When running 圆4 versions of Wndows really requires additional memory as the min memory requirements go up between x86 and 圆4 versions. I probably need to upgrade the entire PC with more memory and Windows 10.

Why don't I upgrade to a later versions of Windows? I probably should but my current PC is older and wouldn't run any better under later version of Windows. Now if you're going to say NX-D doesn't have Vista support, that's incorrect as there's a separate download site for NX-D that runs under Windows Vista, Window 7 and Wiindows 8.x. Anytime this message pops up during installation of a Nikon app that app doesn't get installed. So I attempted to re-install and it produced the 1158 messaged during installation.

I then installed a couple other NIkon programs and everything was running ok, however all of sudden Capture NX-D would not execute. ViewNX 2 a little lighter than Capture NX-D. Then installed ViewNX 2 and it also ran just fine. I then installed Capture NX-D and it ran just fine. (these were all uninstalled and I used regsweeper2 to clean out the registry) The programs installed from a single installer that installed iirc 7 applications, however it didn't install Capture NX-D but a 30 day trail-ware of iirc NX-2. Originally I installed some older versions of Nikon programs from I think was a Suite. However others have had the same issue under other versions of Windows, Windows 7 and higher.
